Regular Season Round 15: Khimky - Lokomotiv 88-80

The game between Top Four teams took place in Khimki. Second ranked host Khimky (9-2) defeated 4th placed Lokomotiv (7-6) 88-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lokomotiv. Lokomotiv trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 21-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 80-88 at the end of the game. Khimky looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Lokomotiv's players. It was a great evening for international guard Vitaly Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points. Croatian-Bosnian guard Zoran Planinic (199-82) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and FYR Macedonian-Slovenian point guard Vlado Ilievski (189-80, agency: World Sport Agency) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimky have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having five points less than leader CSKA. Lokomotiv at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Khimky will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lokomotiv will play at home against Krasnie Krilya (#4) in Samara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
