No shocking result in a game when second ranked Monthey (19-5) beat at home 8th ranked SAM Massagno (3-21) 79-74 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SAM Massagno won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monthey dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to SAM Massagno's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Monthey players scored in double figures. Monthey's coach Petar Aleksic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Travele Jones (203-88, college: Texas Southern) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and forward Chris Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for SAM Massagno. Monthey have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 19-5 record behind leader Lugano Tigers. SAM Massagno lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 21 games lost.
