Regular Season Round 23: Falco-Szova - Kormend 72-64

The game between Top Four teams took place in Szombathely. First ranked host Falco-Szova (21-3) defeated 4th placed Kormend (17-6) 72-64. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-14. But Kormend won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Serbian forward Djordje Pantelic (204-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fair Dickinson) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Falco-Szova players scored in double figures. American swingman Mike English (194-82, college: UMKC) responded with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Istvan Nemeth (190-79, agency: Interperformances) scored 15 points. Kormend's coach Zoran Martic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Falco-Szova have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-3 record. Kormend at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Falco-Szova are looking forward to face Jaszberenyi (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kormend will play against Kecskemeti (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
