The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (24-8) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Severstal (14-14) 62-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ural Ekaterinburg. Ural Ekaterinburg was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 21-16 charge of Severstal, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 24 Ural Ekaterinburg turnovers. Strangely Ural Ekaterinburg outrebounded Severstal 43-29 including 28 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Aleksandr Lunev (201-80, agency: Ryzhov Stanislav) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Forward Stanislav Zinchenko (203-87) contributed with 5 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Severstal's coach Sergei Mokin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Semen Shashkov (205-89) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Sergey Varlamov (209-84) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Ural Ekaterinburg. Severstal maintains fifth position with 14-14 record. Ural Ekaterinburg at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
