Quarter-Finals Round 3: Gescrap BB - CSKA 94-81

Gescrap Bilbao Basket is alive in the Euroleague Quarterfinals. The Spanish squad registered first ever Euroleague playoff victory by beating CSKA Moscow 94-81 tonight. It means that Bilbao came to 1-2 in the series and extended it for at least one more game, which is scheduled for Thursday and Bilbao will be the host again. Kostas Vasiliadis was a key player for the hosts as he collected 20 points and 6 rebounds. Marko Banic also shined scoring 18 points, Aaron Jackson had 13 points and 8 assists, while Alex Mumbru added 12 pts. In CSKA Moscow, center Nenad Krstic answered with 22 points. Anderi Kirilenko (6 rebs) and Alexey Shved had 16 and 15 points respectively. Bilbao had minimum lead at the end of the first period (25-24) and that includes 12-0 run during the quarter. At the halfway of Q2 teams were tied to 36-36, but than Kostas Vasiliadis and his teammates created 9-0 run and went to the halftime with 47-40. Lopez, Banic, Grimau and Mavroeidis shined in the finish of third period and with another 9-0 run brought 16-point lead to their team against the Russian powerhouse. Andrei Kirilenko hit foul shots but only brought CSKA within 71-57 at the end of the third quarter. With 7 minutes remaining it was 80-63 for Bilbao and it was already clear who the winner of the night will be. Quarters: 25-24, 22-16, 24-17, 23-24.
