Quarter-Finals Round 4: Olympiacos - Montepaschi 76-69

Olympiacos advanced to its third Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in the past four seasons by beating Montepaschi Siena 76-69 to secure a 3-1 series victory. Kyle Hines and Vassilis Spanoulis stepped up for the Reds on Friday night with 19 points each. Hines grabbed 7 rebounds beside that, while Spanoulis made all of his 10 attempts from the free throw line. Georgios Printezis helped with 8 points and 9 rebounds. In the loosing squad, David Andersen shined with double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Nikolaos Zisis also scored 15 points and Igor Rakoceivic stopped to 11. Montepaschi said goodbye to 2011/12 Euroleague edition and will be back next season. Teams were tied at 61-61 with five minutes remaining in the game. Printezis, Spanoulis and Law created quick 6-0 run for the hosts and forced Siena to call a timeout. That didn’t help as Spanoulis hit a jumper to make it 69-61 and Zisis finally scored Siena’s first basket from the field in the fourth quarter with a triple with 1:40 to play for a 69-64 game. Sloukas drained a three and Zisis answered first with a layup and after that with 3 free throws cutting the margin to 72-69 with one minute to go. Printezis missed for 3, but managed to grab an offensive rebound, after what Siena fouled Spanoulis who sank both free throws for plus five. Zisis tried to make a triple at the other side, but missed two times. Bo McCalebb followed with two unsuccessful shots from the line and that was all from Montepaschi in this game. Quarters: 21-21, 17-18, 16-16, 22-14.
