Regular Season Round 25: Szolnok - Kormend 83-77

An interesting game for Szolnok (21-4) which hosted in Szolnok 4th placed Kormend (18-7). Third ranked Szolnok managed to get a 6-point victory 83-77. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Kormend won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Julien Mills (193-85, college: Ball St.) stepped up and scored 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and international point guard Obie Trotter (186-84, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) chipped in 28 points. At the losing side American power forward Darian Townes (208-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Csaba Ferencz (194-85, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Kormend players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Szolnok have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Kormend at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Szolnok will play against Albacomp (#3) in Szekesfehervar in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kormend will play on the road against Jaszberenyi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
