Regular Season Round 4: ZTE KK - Kormend 101-92
Date: October 20, 2012
ZTE KK's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Kormend (1-3) 101-92 on Saturday. Kormend trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 24 after three quarters before a 37-22 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 92-101 at the end of the game. ZTE KK made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American-Puerto Rican point guard Donald Copeland (177-84, college: Seton Hall) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists and international David Gaspar (196-82, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) supported him with 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Even a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds by Croatian forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for Kormend. American forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) added 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Five ZTE KK and four Kormend players scored in double figures. ZTE KK left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Kormend and Marso NYKK. ZTE KK will meet Marso NYKK (#10) in the next round. Kormend will play against the league's leader Albacomp having rather not much hope for a victory.
