Regular Season Round 4: Geneve Lions - Monthey 85-71

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Geneve Lions as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (SAV Vacallo) loss. Geneve Lions defeated 5th ranked Monthey at home 85-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Monthey. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Geneve Lions. Monthey was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geneve Lions shot 64.7 percent from the field. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and the other American import power forward Juwann James (198-87, college: JMU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who added 14 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Geneve Lions players scored in double figures. Geneve Lions' coach Ivan Rudez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) responded with 18 points and international Jonathan Dubas (202-91) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 4 other teams. Monthey at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Monthey will play next round against Starwings trying to get back on the winning streak. Geneve Lions will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Fribourg on the road.
