Very expected game in Surgut where 7th ranked Severstal (2-2) was defeated by top-ranked Universitet-Yugra (4-0) 62-44 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Universitet-Yugra. Severstal was better in fourth quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Universitet-Yugra forced 19 Severstal turnovers and outrebounded them 46-27 including 31 on the offensive glass. Severstal was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Vladimir Shevel (200-84, agency: Alti Sport) who added 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Universitet-Yugra's coach Sergei Olhov used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Sergei Zakharov (194-86) responded with 12 points and center Aleksandr Kondrashin (208-86) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Universitet-Yugra have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ataman. Loser Severstal dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Universitet-Yugra will face Ruskon-Mordovia (#5) in Saransk in the next round. Severstal will play against Volgograd.
