Regular Season Round 4: Bellinzona - Riva Basket 50-88
Date: October 27, 2012
Bottom-ranked Bellinzona is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fifth ranked Riva Basket (2-2) 88-50 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Riva Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bellinzona to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Riva Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Bellinzona's 28. Riva Basket forced 27 Bellinzona turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American swingman Cameo Hicks (182-84, college: Washington) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and swingman Lisa Mazzocchi (170-90) supported her with 16 points. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by Canadian forward Julie Seabrook (190-90, college: Colorado) did not help to save the game for Bellinzona. Naturalized Cuban forward Luisa Avila Lopez (183-90) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Riva Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pully and Hope-GBA. Newly promoted Bellinzona still closes the standings with four games lost. Riva Basket will meet at home Pully (#4) in the next round. Bellinzona will play against Basel (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
