Regular Season Round 3: N.Novgorod - Lokomotiv 54-61

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (1-2) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Lokomotiv (2-2) 61-54 on Sunday. BC Nizhny Novgorod was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-10 charge of Lokomotiv, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by BC Nizhny Novgorod helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Maksim Sheleketo (204-87) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Vadim Panin (203-84, agency: Alti Sport) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) added 12 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lokomotiv moved-up to third place. BC Nizhny Novgorod at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Spartak-Prim.. Lokomotiv are looking forward to face Unics Kazan (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Khimky in Khimki and is hoping to win this game.
