Regular Season Round 5: BBC Nyon - Boncourt 83-79

There was an upset when higher ranked Boncourt (3-2) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked BBC Nyon (2-3) 83-79 on Saturday. Boncourt was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of BBC Nyon, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Boncourt's 32. They outrebounded Boncourt 35-22 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boncourt was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winners and swingman Marvin Owens (196-86, college: Northwood) chipped in 24 points and 6 assists. Swingman Shy Ely (194-87, college: Evansville, agency: Merit Sports) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Four Boncourt players scored in double figures. Boncourt's coach Antoine Petitjean tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BBC Nyon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Neuchatel. Loser Boncourt dropped to the third position with two games lost. BBC Nyon will face league's second-placed Fribourg at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boncourt will play against Lugano Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
