The most important game in the last round took place in Riva San Vitale between second ranked Ovronnaz-Mart. (6-2) and fourth ranked Riva Basket (6-2) on Saturday night. Ovronnaz-Mart. was defeated by Riva Basket on the road 74-56. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ovronnaz-Mart.. The game without a history. Riva Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ovronnaz-Mart.'s 36. Riva Basket forced 35 Ovronnaz-Mart. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Cameo Hicks (182-84, college: Washington) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and Canadian-Jamaican forward Rhona McKenzie (183-76, agency: LBM Management) who added 11 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Riva Basket's coach Fabrizio Rezzonico used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barbados forward Jamila Studer-Griffith (182-82) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Lia Volpe (163-86) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Riva Basket have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ovronnaz-Mart. and Fribourg. Riva Basket is looking forward to face Muraltese (#6) in the next round. Ovronnaz-Mart. will play against Fribourg (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
