Very expected game in Saratov where 14th ranked Volgograd (1-8) was defeated by ninth ranked Avtodor (5-4) 85-80 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Avtodor made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Volgograd was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Alexander Lavnikov (205-91) fired 23 points (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Power forward Sergey Toropov (206-89) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Ukrainian guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) produced 14 points and 5 assists and guard Artem Komissarov (200-90) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Four Avtodor and five Volgograd players scored in double figures. Avtodor moved-up to eighth place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and Planeta-Univ. Volgograd lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Avtodor will face Dynamo Moscow (#11) at home in the next round. Volgograd will play against Novosybirsk.
