Regular Season Round 13: ZTE NKK - Atomeromu 72-66

There was no surprise in Zalaegerszeg where 7th ranked Atomeromu (6-8) was defeated by third ranked ZTE NKK (8-4) 72-66 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Atomeromu trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 24-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-72 at the end of the game. ZTE NKK made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Atomeromu turnovers. American guard Alex Gensler (180-90, college: Duquesne, agency: Interperformances) fired 22 points and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Judit Szelesy (184-78, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and international Reka Balint (182-91) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Atomeromu's coach Gergely Magyar tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for ZTE NKK. They maintain third place with 8-4 record having eight points less than leader UNIQA Eurol. Loser Atomeromu keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. ZTE NKK will face bottom-ranked MBK Eurl.Vasas (#10) in Budapest in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Atomeromu will play on the road against BSE-FCSM in Budapest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
