Regular Season Round 13: Basel - Fribourg 81-82

Seventh-ranked Basel (4-9) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Fribourg (9-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Fribourg managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Basel won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fribourg looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kaitlin Sowinski (196-86, college: Sacred Heart, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Kirby Copeland (182-85, college: Virginia Tech, agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American forward Michelle Harrison (190-87, college: Utah) answered with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Marisa Heckendorn (170-84) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Basel. Five Fribourg and four Basel players scored in double figures. Fribourg moved-up to third place, which they share with Hope-GBA. Basel at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Muraltese. Fribourg is looking forward to face league's leader Helios in Vetroz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Basel will play on the road against Bellinzona (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
