Regular Season Round 14: Soproni - Kormend 89-86
Date: December 22, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Kormend (5-9) was edged on the road by fifth ranked Soproni (9-5) 89-86 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Kormend was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-16 charge of Soproni, which allowed them to win the game. Kormend was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Montenegrin power forward Filip Barovic (208-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Dontay Thomas (186-84, college: La Salle) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists for the winners. Croatian forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) added 22 points in the effort for Kormend. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soproni moved-up to fourth place. Loser Kormend dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Soproni will have a break next round. Kormend will play at home against ZTE KK (#7) in Zalaegerszeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
