The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated UMMC Ekaterinburg (8-1) on the court of fifth ranked Spartak Vidnoye on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Spartak Vidnoye 87-82. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of UMMC Ekaterinburg. UMMC Ekaterinburg was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Spartak Vidnoye, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American power forward Candice Dupree (188-84, college: Temple, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Becky Hammon (175-77, college: Colorado St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Spartak Vidnoye players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Italian-American Diana Taurasi (183-82, college: Connecticut) scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Spartak Vidnoye (6-3) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nadezhda O. Defending champion UMMC Ekaterinburg still keeps top position with one game lost. Spartak Vidnoye is looking forward to face Energy Ivanovo (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UMMC Ekaterinburg will play against BC Rostov (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
