Zalgiris claimed the first win at the Euroleague Top 16 round. They overcame Unicaja in Kaunas tonight. Both teams are now tied at 1-1 record in Group E. Zalgiris led by four points after ten minutes 21:17. The teams stayed close throughout the second quarter. Zalgiris managed to secure a 34:30 halftime lead. Unicaja denied the deficit in the third term. Krunoslav Simon put the visitors in front 42:41 with a three-pointer. Kizminskas and Kaukenas returned the lead to Zalgiris as the Lithuanian team entered the fourth quarter up by one point 52:51. Zalgiris quickly cleared off to a safe distance in the fourth frame. They held the Malaga team to just 12 points in the final period and celebrated a well-deserved win at the end. Mindaugas Kuzminskas provided 14 points to pace the home team. Ksistof Lavrinovic added 12 points, while Paulius Jankunas contributed 11 points for the hosts. Earl Calloway and Luka Zoric answered with 11 points each for Unicaja.
