Regular Season Round 16: Ataman - Novosybirsk 85-90

An interesting game for Novosybirsk (11-4) which played road game in Rostov against one of their biggest challengers Ataman (9-6). Third ranked Novosybirsk managed to get a 5-point victory 90-85. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Novosybirsk shot 60.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Novosybirsk especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sergei Tokarev (190-85) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 assists. Center Pavel Podkolzin (226-85) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Amiran Amirkhanov (187-86) replied with 20 points and 8 assists and guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) added 17 points in the effort for Ataman. Four Ataman players scored in double figures. Ataman's coach Boris Livanov tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Novosybirsk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Novosybirsk maintains third position with 11-4 record having just -8 point less than leader Univ.Surgut. Ataman lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Rjazan and Ruskon-Mord.. Novosybirsk are looking forward to face Rjazan (#5) at home in the next round. Ataman will play against Planeta-Univ. in Ukhta and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
