Superlaegue top team - Universitet-Yugra (13-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Volgograd (4-11) in Surgut 91-68. The game was mostly controlled by Universitet-Yugra. Volgograd managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Universitet-Yugra dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Volgograd's 32 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Universitet-Yugra forced 23 Volgograd turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by forward Denis Hloponin (206-81) who scored that evening 20 points and 4 assists and guard Aleksandr Miloserdov (194-80) supported him with 20 points. Five Universitet-Yugra players scored in double figures. Universitet-Yugra's coach Sergei Olhov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Artem Komissarov (200-90) did not help to save the game for Volgograd. Center Andrey Voron (208-87) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Universitet-Yugra have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-2 record. Volgograd lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Universitet-Yugra will meet Dynamo Moscow (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volgograd will play against the league's second-placed Ural Ekaterinburg and hope to secure a win.
