Leader UMMC Ekaterinburg delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Spartak Noginsk (2-9) 78-52. The game without a history. UMMC Ekaterinburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Spartak Noginsk to just 6 points in first quarter. UMMC Ekaterinburg forced 21 Spartak Noginsk turnovers and outrebounded them 36-25 including 28 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for UMMC Ekaterinburg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) who helped to win the game recording 18 points (made all of her eight free throws). Israeli-American point guard Sue Bird (175-80, college: Connecticut) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Anna Tolikova (19-86) answered with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Maria Merzliakova (178-86) added 13 points in the effort for Spartak Noginsk. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UMMC Ekaterinburg have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-1 record. Spartak Noginsk lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg will play against Vologda-Chevakata (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Spartak Noginsk will play against the league's second-placed Dynamo Moscow and hopes to get back on the winning track.
