Regular Season Round 15: Unics - Khimky 76-70

The game between second ranked Khimky (8-3) and ninth ranked Unics Kazan (4-7) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Khimky was defeated by Unics Kazan in a tough game in Kazan 70-76. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Khimky. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But Khimky won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Greek power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Greek power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) helped adding 13 points. The best for the losing side was international guard Vitaliy Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international Sergey Monya (202-83) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unics Kazan moved-up to seventh place. Khimky at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
