Rather expected game when 14th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (4-19) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Planeta-Univ. (9-14) 67-62 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-62. American forward James Ellisor (195-90, college: Bemidji St.) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and forward Andrey Petukhov (207-86) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Planeta-Univ. players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Denis Novikov (200-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Oleg Filin (181-81) scored 10 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Planeta-Univ. have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Planeta-Univ. maintains eleventh place with 9-14 record. Sojuz Zaretchny lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Spartak V.. Planeta-Univ. will meet at home league's leader Universitet-Yugra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sojuz Zaretchny will play against Spartak Vidnoye (#13) in Moscow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
