Qualifying Round Round 2: EWE Baskets - Lietuvos rytas 87-99

Lietuvos Rytas secured the second straight win at the EuroLeague Qualifying Round. They overcame EWE Baskets to step closer to qualifying into the regular season of the tournament. Martynas Gecevicius scored 34 points to lead the winners. The hosts secured a confident start to the game. Lietuvos Rytas surged ahead cheered up by a 5300 crowd at the Siemens Arena in Vilnius. Lietuvos Rytas dropped 23 points to ensure a 3-point lead. Lietuvos Rytas stayed aggressive offensively in the second frame. They poured in 30 points to secure a 7-point halftime lead 53:46. EWE Baskets did not allow the Lithuanian team to clear off in the third term. Dru Joyce dragged Oldenburg within 5 points late in the period. But Lietuvos Rytas eked out a 71:65 advantage at the final break. Nemanja Aleksandrov narrowed the gap at 5-point mark midway through the fourth frame. But Lietuvos Rytas answered with a 5:1 mini run to secure an 84:75 lead with under four minutes remaining. Julius Jenkins drained a three-pointer to put EWE Baskets within six but the home team responded with 7 consecutive points and rallied to the victory. Omar-Sharif Cook notched 14 points, while Steponas Babrauskas and Juan Palacios added 10 points each for the winners. Chris Kramer responded with 24 points for EWE Baskets. Nemanja Aleksandrov had 15 points in the loss.
