Regular Season Round 8: BK Tambov - Irkut-2 91-66

Higher League top team - BK Tambov (6-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Irkut-2 (1-6) 91-66. The game was mostly controlled by BK Tambov. Irkut-2 was better in fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BK Tambov dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Irkut-2's 18. BK Tambov forced 19 Irkut-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 54-22 including a 30-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Mikhail Filimonov (204-84) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Swingman Valeriy Grishin (198-86) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four BK Tambov players scored in double figures. BK Tambov's coach Viktor Kolodin felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Aleksandr Balakirev (205-93) produced 19 points and 4 assists and forward Roman Karmadanov (202-92) added 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. BK Tambov maintains first position in League with 6-1 record. Newly promoted Irkut-2 keeps the eighth place with six games lost. BK Tambov's next round opponent will be again Irkut-2 (#8) in Irkutsk and are hoping to win another game.
