Regular Season Round 5: UNI Gyor - MTK 77-73

Very important is a road loss of third ranked MTK (3-4) against leader UNI Gyor (2-0) on Sunday night. Visiting MTK was defeated by UNI Gyor in a tough game in Gyor 73-77. It looked good early as MTK took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then UNI Gyor had a 23-18 second period charge getting the lead and MTK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-77. UNI Gyor forced 21 MTK turnovers. American guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) stepped up and scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and her fellow American import forward Joslyn Tinkle (190-90, college: Stanford) chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: IPSA) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and guard Dora Medgyessy (174-86) scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. UNI Gyor moved-up to fourth place. MTK at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. UNI Gyor will play against MKB Eurl.Vasas (#5) in Budapest in the next round. MTK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Budapest to the arena MKB Eurl.Vasas.
