The game in Saransk was also quite interesting. Third ranked Ryazan (7-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (3-4). Ryazan managed to secure a 6-point victory 76-70 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ruskon-Mordovia. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 40-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Ruskon-Mordovia outrebounded Ryazan 47-28 including a 20-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Belarusian forward Valentin Iurchik (207-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Dramir Zibirov (187-86) chipped in 14 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Roman Semerninov (200-81) scored 7 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ryazan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Novosybirsk and Ural Ekaterinb. Ruskon-Mordovia at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Dynamo MO. Ryazan will meet at home Spartak-Prim. (#6) in the next round. Ruskon-Mordovia will play against Irkut Irkutsk and hope to secure a win.
