Date: December 19, 2013
Bottom-ranked Irkut Irkutsk (0-11) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 11th consecutive match to second ranked Ryazan (9-2) 104-82 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Ryazan. Irkut Irkutsk managed to win fourth quarter 29-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ryazan dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Irkut Irkutsk's 38. Ryazan forced 22 Irkut Irkutsk turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 22 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Irkut Irkutsk's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Victor Zvarykin (198-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Dmitrii Gordeev (198-89) who added 15 points during the contest. Ryazan's coach Denis Timakov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Aleksandr Kuznetsov (191-84) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Fedor Prikhodko (190-85) scored 16 points. Five Ryazan and four Irkut Irkutsk players scored in double figures. Ryazan have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Avtodor, which they share with Novosybirsk. Newly promoted Irkut Irkutsk still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
