Regular Season Round 10: Spartak V MR - UMMC 72-75

The most exciting game of round 10 in the PBL took place in Vidnoye. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Spartak Vidnoye (6-3) to first ranked UMMC Ekaterinburg (8-1) 75-72 on Sunday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-9. But Spartak Vidnoye won second period 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when UMMC Ekaterinburg won last quarter 25-23. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Spartak Vidnoye only scored eight points from the stripe. Italian-American Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Serbian forward Sonja Petrovic (189-89) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and international Eugeniya Belyakova (182-86, agency: IPSA) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-1 record, which they share with Dynamo M. Spartak Vidnoye at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Dynamo K. and Nadezhda O.. UMMC Ekaterinburg is looking forward to face Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against Dyn.-GUVD (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
