Date: January 16, 2014
An interesting game for Atomeromu (7-4) which played road game in Budapest against 4th ranked MTK (5-6). First ranked Atomeromu managed to get a 5-point victory 65-60. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But MTK won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MTK 44-32 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Shamika Singleton (185-89, college: Concordia, TX, agency: IPSA) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian guard Maja Scekic (169-87, agency: IPSA) supported her with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points and 4 assists by guard Dora Medgyessy (174-86) did not help to save the game for MTK. Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: IPSA) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Atomeromu have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-4 record. Loser MTK keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Atomeromu will meet league's second-placed UNI Gyor on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MTK will play against ZTE NKK in Zalaegerszeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
