Regular Season Round 17: Szedeak - Kormend 89-92 OT

Szedeak (#8) forced the game against Kormend (#6) into an overtime, but lost by three points 89-92 on Sunday night. The game took place in Szeged. But the guests from Kormend were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Szedeak won third quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Szedeak used huge pressure winning it 17-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-11. Kormend looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Muhammad El Amin (196-87, college: Stony Brook, agency: TSS Management) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Romanian center Rolland Torok (202-90, agency: TSS Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Jonathan Levy (193-82, college: CS San Bernar.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian guard Branko Jereminov (187-87) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Kormend and five Szedeak players scored in double figures. Kormend (10-7) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sopron KC and Kaposvari. Szedeak lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Kormend will face league's second-placed KTE-Duna Aszfalt in Papa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Szedeak will play on the road against Kaposvari (#4) and hope to win that game.
