Regular Season Round 15: UMMC - Chevakata 76-61

PBL top team - UMMC Ekaterinburg (13-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Vologda-Chevakata (4-9) 76-61. It looked good early as Vologda-Chevakata took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then UMMC Ekaterinburg had a 19-11 second period charge getting the lead and Vologda-Chevakata was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-76. UMMC Ekaterinburg made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Vologda-Chevakata turnovers. It was a great evening for American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Belgian center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four UMMC Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach Olaf Lange allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was center Olga Gorbacheva (193-88, agency: LBM Management) with 8 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Anastasia Logunova (192-90) scored 12 points. UMMC Ekaterinburg have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-1 record. Vologda-Chevakata at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg will play against Dynamo Moscow (#4) on the road in the next round. Vologda-Chevakata will play against Dynamo Kursk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
