An interesting game took place in Zalaegerszeg where higher ranked Kormend (11-8) was upset on the court of ninth ranked ZTE KK (7-12) 112-83 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Kormend. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 112-83. ZTE KK dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Kormend's players. American forward Justin Safford (204-87, college: Missouri) fired 40 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Jozsef Lekli (206-87, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four ZTE KK players scored in double figures. Montenegrin forward Zarko Rakocevic (204-84, agency: Interperformances) produced 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American swingman Muhammad El Amin (196-87, college: Stony Brook, agency: TSS Management) added 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ZTE KK moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Kormend keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Kaposvari. ZTE KK will meet league's second-placed Alba in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kormend will play against Kaposvari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
