We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (2-12) was crushed at home by ninth ranked Dyn.-GUVD (3-12) 67-45. The game was mostly controlled by Dyn.-GUVD. Enisey Krasnoyarsk was better in second period 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Enisey Krasnoyarsk to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Enisey Krasnoyarsk 44-21 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American center Devereaux Peters (187-89, college: Notre Dame) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Maria Cherepanova (190-87) supported her with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by naturalized Belarusian center Firuza Bekmetova (200-86) did not help to save the game for Enisey Krasnoyarsk. Swingman Irina Romanova (186-88) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dyn.-GUVD moved-up to eighth place. Enisey Krasnoyarsk lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Dyn.-GUVD will play against bottom-ranked Spartak Noginsk (#10) on the road in the next round. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play against Energy Ivanovo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
