Regular Season Round 21: Samara-SGEU - Spartak-Prim. 88-65

An interesting game took place in Samara where higher ranked Spartak-Prim. (11-7) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Samara-SGEU (7-11) 88-65. The game was mostly controlled by Samara-SGEU. Spartak-Prim. was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Samara-SGEU shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Power forward Andrey Kirdyachkin (207-90) nailed 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Vladimir Pichkurov (193-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds. Pavel Gromyko (197-89) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Alexander Fomin (206-86, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points respectively for Spartak-Prim. in the defeat. Five Samara-SGEU and four Spartak-Prim. players scored in double figures. Spartak-Prim.'s coach Russel Bergman gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Samara-SGEU have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place. Spartak-Prim. at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Samara-SGEU will play against higher ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak-Prim. will play against Ural Ekaterinburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
