Regular Season Round 21: Neuchatel - Monthey 100-70

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Neuchatel. Second ranked Neuchatel faced 4th placed Monthey. Host Neuchatel (16-5) smashed guests from Monthey (10-11) 100-70. The game without a history. Neuchatel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Neuchatel forced 23 Monthey turnovers. It was a good game for Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Neuchatel's coach Emmanuel Schmitt felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Myles McKay (193-86, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) answered with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Monthey. Five Neuchatel and four Monthey players scored in double figures. Neuchatel have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-5 record behind leader Lugano Tigers. Monthey at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Neuchatel will play against EI Massagno (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Monthey will play against Fribourg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
