We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (12-9) lost to seventh ranked Dynamo Moscow (12-8) in Saransk 55-62 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-55. Dynamo Moscow dominated on the defensive end, holding Ruskon-Mordovia to just 7 points in third quarter. They held Ruskon-Mordovia to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.9 percent accuracy of the winners. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Denis Zakharov (193-93) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Vladislav Trushkin (200-93) accounted for 4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds and center Aleksandr Gerasimov (201-92) added 14 points respectively for Ruskon-Mordovia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dynamo Moscow moved-up to sixth place. Loser Ruskon-Mordovia dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Univ.Surgut.
