There was an upset when higher ranked Novosybirsk (16-7) was defeated at home by tenth ranked AltajBasket (9-14) 76-68 on Thursday. Novosybirsk trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 23-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 68-76 at the end of the game. AltajBasket had a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Novosybirsk was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Pavel Podkolzin (226-85) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Chester Mason (192-81, college: Miami, OH, agency: N.E.T.) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Vitaliy Ionov (201-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds.
