Second Stage Round 5: UNI Gyor - PEAC-Pecs 73-70

The most exciting game of round 5 in the A Division took place in Gyor. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked PEAC-Pecs (9-4) to fourth ranked UNI Gyor (9-3) 73-70 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PEAC-Pecs. PEAC-Pecs trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-73 at the end of the game. 24 personal fouls committed by PEAC-Pecs helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Joslyn Tinkle (190-90, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Croatian guard Martina Gambiraza (176-82) chipped in 12 points and 5 steals. Jamaican-American point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL) produced 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (179-90) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four PEAC-Pecs players scored in double figures. PEAC-Pecs' coach Zeljko Djokic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UNI Gyor moved-up to third place. PEAC-Pecs at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. UNI Gyor are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Cegledi EKK (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PEAC-Pecs will play against MTK (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
