Very expected game when 8th ranked Universitet-Yugra (12-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Novosybirsk (17-7) 83-79 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Universitet-Yugra was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Novosybirsk, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Chester Mason (192-81, college: Miami, OH, agency: N.E.T.) fired 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Igor Smygin (197-87, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 14 points. Nigerian forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St.) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Denis Hloponin (206-81) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Five Novosybirsk and four Universitet-Yugra players scored in double figures. Universitet-Yugra's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Novosybirsk maintains third place with 17-7 record having just one point less than leader Avtodor. Loser Universitet-Yugra keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Novosybirsk will have a break next round. Universitet-Yugra will play at home against Irkut Irkutsk (#14) and hope to win that game.
