Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ryazan (18-7) against sixth ranked Spartak-Prim. (15-9) on Friday night. Visiting Ryazan was defeated by Spartak-Prim. in Vladivostok 64-54. It looked good early as Ryazan took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Spartak-Prim. had a 18-3 second period charge getting the lead and Ryazan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-64. Spartak-Prim. dominated on the defensive end, holding Ryazan to just 3 points in second quarter. Ryazan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Pavel Gromyko (197-89) who led the winners and scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Iliya Syrovatko (193-88) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Guard Dramir Zibirov (187-86) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Victor Zvarykin (198-86) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Ryazan in the defeat. Ryazan's coach Denis Timakov tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Spartak-Prim. moved-up to fifth place. Ryazan at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Novosybirsk. Spartak-Prim. will play against Ruskon-Mordovia (#7) in Saransk in the next round. Ryazan will play on the road against Irkut Irkutsk (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
