There was no surprise when 9th ranked Samara-SGEU (12-14) was defeated at home by third ranked Novosybirsk (19-7) 63-58. It looked good early as Samara-SGEU took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Novosybirsk had a 19-7 second period charge getting the lead and Samara-SGEU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-63. Novosybirsk dominated on the defensive end, holding Samara-SGEU to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Samara-SGEU 41-30 including 26 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Chester Mason (192-81, college: Miami, OH, agency: N.E.T.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Alexander Anisimov (185-86, agency: Alti Sport) supported him with 18 points. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by power forward Andrey Kirdyachkin (207-90) did not help to save the game for Samara-SGEU. Guard Vladimir Pichkurov (193-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Novosybirsk have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Samara-SGEU keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost.
