Regular Season Round 26: Starwings - Neuchatel 74-76

Sixth-ranked Starwings (10-16) gave a tough game to third ranked Neuchatel (18-8) in Basel on Sunday. The visitors from Neuchatel managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Starwings. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-74. Neuchatel made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Arunas Vasiliauskas (201-85) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neuchatel moved-up to second place, which they share with Fribourg. Starwings at the other side keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Neuchatel is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Boncourt (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Starwings will play against the league's leader Lugano Tigers and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
