Quarter-Finals Round 3: Fenerbahce - Spartak V MR 58-57

Fenerbahce stole a narrow dramatic victory over Spartak Moscow Region in the final round of EuroLeague Final Eight group stage. The win marked 3-0 record for Fenerbahce as they won Group A and advanced into semifinal stage. Cappie Pondexter (175-G-83, college: Rutgers) netted 16 points to lead all scorers. Spartak MR fell at 1-2 record after the loss. Spartak MR got to a solid start. They grabbed a 17:14 lead after ten minutes. Fenerbahce straighten out their performance in the next ten minutes and pulled ahead. The Turkish team gained a 30:26 halftime advantage. Spartak however did not allow Fenerbahce to clear off in the third term. The Russian team stuck around to trail by just 3 points at the final intermission. Spartak opened the fourth term on a 7:1 run to secure a 53:50 lead. The teams traded baskets then. Sonja Petrovic made it 57:56 for Spartak with under two minutes to go. But Isabelle Yacoubou-Dehoui hit a late jumper to win the game for the Turkish side. Angel McCoughtry posted 13 points, while Isabelle Yacoubou-Dehoui and Birsel Vardarli had 9 points apiece in the win. Sonja Petrovic and Eugeniya Belyakova delivered 14 points each in the loss.
