Strasbourg got to the winning start of their EuroLeague season. They edged VEF Riga at the start of the Qualifying Round in Oostende. Antoine Diot and Ali Traore posted 15 points each to pace the French team. Strasbourg gained a 22:19 lead after the opening quarter. They maintained the advantage throughout the second frame. Strasbourg piled up a 42:32 halftime advantage. The French team went off the dressing room firing from all guns. They sparked with a 23:10 rally to leave VEF Riga behind. The Latvian powerhouse could not recover in the fourth frame conceding an 11:17 blow and suffering a heavy defeat. Louis Campbell had 10 points for the winners. Gerald Robinson responded with 14 points for VEF Riga. Kevin Dillard chipped in 12 points in the loss.
