Unics punched the EuroLeague regular season ticket. They outscored ASVEL in Oostende tonight to earn the last place in the Europe’s top competition regular season. James White nailed 21 points to pace the Kazan team to a difficult victory. Unics grabbed a 22:20 lead after a close first frame. But it was all about ASVEL in the second period. The French team exploded with 33 points to gain a 14-point halftime advantage 53:39. Edwin Jackson drained a three-pointer to give ASVEL a 19-point lead early in the third term. But Unics turned things around in a blink of an eye. They triggered a feisty 23:2 run to take a narrow lead late in the period. Ahmad Nivins leveled things up at 64 heading into the fourth frame. But the momentum shifted the Kazan way. Unics opened an 8-point lead midway through the fourth stanza 76:68. They protected the lead well throughout the rest of the game and marched to the victory. Fischer had 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Jerrells contributed 15 points for the winners. David Andersen responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds for ASVEL. Edwin Jackson and Amara Sy had 12 points each in the loss.
