An interesting game where Neuchatel (1-0) edged by one point Boncourt (0-1) 92-91 on Saturday night. It was a big embarassment for a home team. Boncourt was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 26-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Neuchatel forced 22 Boncourt turnovers. American swingman Devin Sweetney (198-87, college: St.Francis, PA, agency: IBS) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) chipped in 23 points and 7 steals. At the losing side American forward Brian Morris (205-87, college: Humboldt St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and international Nicolas Dos Santos (200-87) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Neuchatel and four Boncourt players scored in double figures. Neuchatel will meet at home Lugano Tigers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Boncourt will play against Massagno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
