Very expected game when 13th ranked Alma-Ata (1-4) was rolled over at home by ninth ranked Universitet-Yugra (3-2) 84-65. Universitet-Yugra players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Alma-Ata was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: BeoExcell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Azerbaijani center Aleksandr Rindin (225-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Universitet-Yugra players scored in double figures. Kazakhstan Maxim Voyeykov (196-88) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Pavel Mikheev (201-83) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Alma-Ata. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Universitet-Yugra moved-up to third place, which they share with 6 other teams. Newly promoted Alma-Ata keeps the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Irkutsk and AltajBasket. Universitet-Yugra will play against AltajBasket (#14) in Barnau in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Alma-Ata will have a break next round.
